READ

get_epic

One epic by id, with its reference, goal, prose, owner, priority, status, dates and colour.

Return one epic: its reference, title, goal, summary, business value, hypothesis, success metrics, owner, MoSCoW priority, status, dates and colour. Read it when a story, a commit or a conversation names an epic by reference and you need the goal and the scope it was agreed with, or to check where it stands before you move work under it.

An epic of a project the token may not see, or an epic that is not agreed read through a guest token, is unknown rather than forbidden.

Requires ability

The token behind the MCP session must hold it, or the call is refused with TOKEN_MISSING_ABILITY.

Runs the same action as

The REST endpoint and this tool share one action, so validation, permissions and events are identical.

Annotations

Read-only

It reads and never changes anything.
